Scouting Paradise, Jamboree Style

Nestled in the rolling green hills of Virginia, close to our nation’s capital, Fort A.P. Hill lies near many historical Civil War landmarks. This 76,000-acre facility has hosted the national Scout jamboree since 1981. The Boy Scouts of America uses approximately 3,000 acres of land to support a city of more than 43,000 Scouts and leaders.

The BSA has two fundraisers each year. The first is Poptober (popcorn) and the second is the Scout Show Cards. Each scout needs to fulfill his obligation with the sale of a min. of 10 cards ($100). They will earn individual commissions up to 50% they can apply towards scouting. Remember, this is just the minimum; we have access to 1000's more, so just ask!

These cards practically sell themselves! This year’s ticket/discount card is filled with incredible values including buy one Texas Rangers ticket get one FREE, 20% off a MVP Haircut at Sports Clips, two for one Pizza at Papa Johns as well as SpeedZone, $5 off at Bass Pro Shops, and 6 other restaurant discounts. Money is due no later than the date of the show, which is May 2nd, 2009 at the Ballpark in Arlington!

New Troop Leadership

Collin S. was elected the Senior Patrol Leader for the upcoming term. Collin is a Life Scout and recently served as the Troop Scribe. Collin is training for the 2009 Philmont Trek. Lucas H. was appointed the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. Lucas is a Life Scout and recently served as the Troop Historian. Lucas was a member of the 2007 Philmont Crew. We look forward to this new leadership in the coming months. Tres H. was elected patrol leader for the Bear Patrol, Jeremy D. for the Coyotes patrol, and Ryan for the Cobra patrol. Congratulations to all of these young men. We look forward to your service in 2009.
